Burnt taste out of chili?!
Answers: My husband made a huge pot of chili today and alot of the noddles stuck and burnt to the bottom of the pot and when he stired it up...he made the whole pot taste burnt and nasty....we dont want to throw it all away because it was a lot of food to waste and of course money....any ideas as to how to get that taste out??? thanks :)))
Well, we do get everything on here don't we? Cook the noodles separately. When they are drained, put whatever amount you want in the bottom of your bowl and ladle the chili on top. Personally, I love macaroni with my chili.
I recommend grinding it in a blender or food processor, then use it as a dip or spread with burgers or tacos or something
Since it is already stirred up you are likely out of luck on saving it, BUT you could try moving it to another pot without the really burnt part if you can, then squirt some lemon juice into it OR dump a can of tomatoes in and stir it up. Whichever you do, put the burner on low and let it blend in to the food; then taste it.
Also if you are making noodles with Chili you should cook them seperately and serve the chili over the noodles or put them in the chili pot at the very end of cooking time.
Good luck~
the burnt flavor is not going to go away, sorry. The best thing to have done would've been, not to stir and to pour into another pot.
Noodles in chili? Not in Texas!
Beans, yes, but only as a stretcher... you won't find that at a chili cookoff.
If you just have the bottom layer scorched and haven't tried to stir that up, then you can remove the rest of the chili to another pot. Other than that, you are SOL.
You could try adding some beer, that can cut some of the burnt taste (though you may need to add a little more chili powder)
The problem is that the burn taste will not go away. I would toss it. Even though it is like tosing money out the window I'd rather pitch a pot of chili than something like a prime rib. Do you have a dog????
For future refrences if you ever burn a sauce, chili, etc...DON"T scrape the bottom, just move it into another pot. That won't garantee a no burned flavor but it will help.
P.S. I like chili on spagetti, yum I also like corn in my chili, but you find that in Texas eiher.
