I would say, God no!!

This is from WIKIPEDIA

"Lard refers to pig fat in both its rendered and unrendered forms. Lard was commonly used in many cuisines as a cooking fat or shortening, or as a spread similar to butter. Its use in contemporary cuisine has diminished because of health concerns posed by its saturated fat content and its often negative image; however, many contemporary cooks and bakers favor it over other fats for select uses. The culinary qualities of lard vary somewhat depending on the part of the pig from which the fat was taken and how the lard was processed. Lard is still commonly used to manufacture soap."

Personally, I would use it to bathe before I would spread it on a slice of bread!!

FYI - Leaf lard is still pig fat! "The highest grade of lard, known as leaf lard, is obtained from the 'flare' fat deposit surrounding the kidneys and inside the loin."

And the rest of my answer still stands. Neither butter nor lard are desperately good for you, but butter is still the more healthy of the two.

Lard is much worse than butter.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It could be if you are utilizing the Atkins diet or low carb eating. But plain and simple, NOTHING beats the flavor of cooking in lard. It is sooooo good.

Yes, it is. It's by no means a health food, but it's better for you than butter, hard margarine, or hydrogenated veg shortening.

From wikipedia: "[lard] has less saturated fat, more unsaturated fat, and less cholesterol than an equal amount of butter by weight. Unlike many margarines and vegetable shortenings, unhydrogenated lard contains no trans fat. "

Good lord no! Lard is pure fat, & may be used for some frying or roasting dishes.

oh my no!!! if you want to die of clogged arteries...
