I like them both but I would say chocolate.
Oh Judy!!!!!!! This is such a tough choice to make and you are making it from scratch, so yuuummmmy!
I am going to do something I normally do not do, but I think I am going to have to totally agree with Pepper Jack. Flip a coin and call it! Because around this house the guys are both on diets, but they would lose their willpower if I had homemade pudding in the fridge, so I would have to make both. "Amazon Boy" loves pudding, so in order for my hubby and me to both have a chance at getting some pudding, I would have to make double portions of both kinds.
That would probably make me have to lie around in bed the rest of the day because of my bad back; then I would probably be really mad because "Amazon Boy" got into one and ate until he got sick at his stomach; then I would have to listen to him complain!
Gee whizzers! What a tough call this would be for me to have to make because making homemade pudding calls for you to stand there and constantly stir it to keep it from burning. And yes, I also like to use whole milk, although whole milk causes the pudding to be more fattening, but it just tastes so much creamier when you use whole milk or even half and half. Sometimes when our son asks for pudding, I will make a couple of batches of the packed pudding to keep him halfway happy, but he says although he likes it, it still isn't the same as my homemade pudding.
Now I really wish I was at your house so I could try some of your pudding!! I guess I am going to have to break down one day next week when hubby goes to see his mom and "Amazon Boy" is in school and make a double portion of pudding. Then the next day I could make another flavor.
I remember when I could stand at the stove and make all kinds of puddings, pies, cakes, and desserts on top of an entire meal and it didn't bother me at all. But cimcumstances are different now and I am unable to do that, so I usually have to chose just one flavor and it is always a tough decision. I am sorry I could not be of more help to you, Judy dear. It's just that I happen to love both flavors and I love them a lot! And then I do something worse. I actually add some whipped cream on top of my pudding! I'm such a glutton!
LOL!
And yes, homemade is the very best type of pudding there is. My mother was a wonderful cook and she made some truly heavenly food, especially homemade pudding. I am so glad I wrote down the majority of her best recipes and my dad's home made ice cream mix. At least I can still carry on their traditions. Don't know what is going to happen when I go though because my kids always want me to make something, even though I have given them some of my recipes. They tell me it always tastes better when I make something. Perhaps it is that extra little thing called 'love' I put into my cooking. ;)
