Am I less of a man for putting golden syrup in my porridge?!

Question: I believe the Scots put salt on it, and eat it with knives.

Answers: I believe the Scots put salt on it, and eat it with knives.

Syrup on Porridge is fine, but Salt on WATERMELON?!?

Its meant to be sweet!

Your barbaric to be doing that :O

Less of a man for liking syrup in your oats? My goodness me, no!!

not less of a man, but maybe kind of a silly man... kidding...=)
ohhhhhh, i know porridge as a heavy meat stew, not a cereal... lol

no, you're more of a man for doing his own thing and not having to follow everybody else's lead!

No eat it the way you like it.I put salt on watermelon.umm

It shouldn't make you less of a man. I'm never going to find out.

By the way, I'm an ex pat Scot and yes I like mine with salt & milk but I have never found it necessary to use a knife.

omg you eat porridge

No, I love porridge with Golden Syrup. The Scots are just crazy, they don't wear anything under their kilts and it gets really cold in Scotland.

Porridge is good for you so a wee drop of syrup is fine and probably a lot better for you than salt. My dad used to put honey on his and he was a fine man!

that's what i like to here a fella who likes his oats sweet, lol.in my opinion thats the nicest way to have em i always do.my dad has em with salt i think it tastes minging :-)

only if I'm less of a woman for putting tomatoes on my fried eggs......

Yes you are! Why don't you put Marmite on it as everybody else does? You sound perverse to me.

Oh God, no, a real man eats what he likes and likes what he eats! Plus, your kisses will be a little sweeter later on for that special lady, haha!

Why ask ? At least you don't put Marmite on it.!!!

Not at all.....but if you are wearing a dress at the same time...then that is a different matter!

My husband puts Maple Syrup on his.
Admittedly, at 75, he's not quite the man he was 50 years ago.
I like my porridge as flapjacks (with maple syrup!)

No, it is all a matter of personal taste. I'm a Scot and I hate salt on porridge. I don't eat it with a knife either, for that matter, but I have heard of people making the porridge so thick it is more like flapjack.

It is actually more traditional to eat porridge with sweet things, though, such as fruit. Where this salt thing came from, I do not know, but there is nothing worse than salt on porridge. come to think of it, porridge is not my favourite either.

You're no less of a man for putting syrup in your porridge. I put dried fruit on mine. Porridge can be very bland, and you need something to sweeten it.

As for the Scots thing, my partner is Scottish and I'm yet to see him, or his family for that matter, put salt in their porridge and eat it with knives! :D

No love, you're just a sweety. I like it that way too - why don't we meet up?
