Stale white bread dip in a mixutre of beaten egg and milk......cook in pan with some butter or margarine over medium heat so it does not burn, or use a girddle...........

FRENCH TOAST
INGREDIENTS:
4 eggs
1 teaspoon sugar, optional
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
10 to 12 slices white bread
butter
maple syrup or other syrup
PREPARATION:
Break eggs into a wide, shallow bowl or pie plate; beat lightly with a fork. Stir in sugar, salt, and milk.
Over medium-low heat, heat griddle or skillet coated with a thin layer of butter or margarine.
Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl or plate, letting slices soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side. Soak/coat only as many slices as you will be cooking at one time.
Transfer bread slices to griddle or skillet, heating slowly until bottom is golden brown. Turn and brown the other side. Serve French toast hot with butter and syrup.

I crack eggs into a bowl and mix them with a fork or a wire whisk. Next, I take a skillet and sit it on the burner on medium heat and put a couple of tablespoons of butter into the pan. Then I put bread slices into the bowl and coat the bread with the egg. When the butter in the pan starts to sizzle, I put the coated bread into the skillet. Let it cook on one side for a few minutes before turning and cook it on the other side. Once each side is as brown as I would like it, I remove the bread to a plate and sprinkle liberally with powdered sugar.

crack an egg and pour in a little milk in a bowl.
stir that up while the buttered pan heats up
put bread in the bowl of egg on both side then throw in pan

OK get 1-2 eggs and scramble them...then add a little bit of milk about a tablespoon and add just a little bit of cinnamon. Then just dip the bread in this mixture and put it in a fry pan until both sides look golden brown. Then put syrup and butter on top

I like to add orange zest and vanilla extract to the eggs. Then sprinkle cinnamon and pour maple syrup over the top of the toast.

then.
in a small cake pan /or a plate with high edges.pour the batter in to it.

with the fryeng pan on low heat,
take a spatula and one by one dip the toast into the batter and put in the pan.
turning it over now and then untill it's done
(just like a pancakes.)

how the first person/answer said

but use french toast bread [its thicker] and makes it taste better

This would be for about six slices...

Crack four eggs into a bowl, add a SMALL
amount of milk (maybe 2 tbsp.) and whip it
up good adding 1/4 tsp. salt.

using a fork to turn bread over, thoroughly coat both sides
of the bread with egg mixture, place slices in frying pan on
medium heat and fry both sides to a nice golden brown
White bread or English muffin style bread works best.

Butter and syrup just like pancakes.

As you can see from other recipes there are many ways to
do it. I prefer less milk than others because I like the egg
taste more and I dont really care for cinammon.

Experiment until you find what you prefer for your family.
They are probably all good recipes.

2 eggs beating with a teaspoon of milk, with a touch of paprika mix together. In a bowl with the mix ingredient put your bread in on both sides and grill bread on both sides and voila the best french toast of the century.

Here is how I make mine...
I use Texas Bread,it's nice and thick and egg enriched.
Beat eggs...I do not add milk as I like my French Toast full
bodied, not diluted down.If anything add vanilla only. Some add cinnamon.I do not.
Dip bread in beaten eggs and add to frypan which butter or oil has been added.Fry until golden brown and flip over to brown other side.
Serve with honey, syrup, strawberries, caramelized bananas or apples.
Here is my favorite....saute some ham slices, place on top of French toast and some cheese;cover with another piece of French Toast or serve open faced.(wilted spinach is good also with the ham)
A sidedish of applesauce or caramelized apples!!!
I think you might get a compliment from family or friends on this one.
