Answers: ok no one in my family has been a good cook. dinner has always been box dinners and stuff like that. well my boyfriend of 2.5 years, his whole family - they are all great cooks and so is he (which embarrases me that i cant). so im starting to learn (figured its about time since im 19 its about time to learn) because my family doesnt use any spices or anything i dont know what tastes good together. so far i have mastered italian sausage spaghetti and manicotti. im going to make my family and boyfriend dinner tomorrow....any ideas (fairly simple ones) of what to make? im fairly picky so please...as many good ideas u can think of!
I make sweet and sour chicken with steamed white rice.
Take boneless skinless chicken breasts, thawed
cut into bite sized cubes
set aside
take a rectangular pan (like a sheet cake pan) and line it with foil
make the foil long enough on the sides so you can fold it together like a tent, kinda like this:

pour in sweet and sour sauce, usually 2 small cans or jars with pineapple chunks, green bell pepper slices and onion triangles, and add the chopped chicken.
spread everything around in the pan so it cooks evenly.
close the foil tent to lock in heat, and bake at 350 degrees F for 30-40 minutes, or until the chicken is white all the way through, not pink.
The rice I use is minute rice, follow the directions on the box.
Serve the chicken with the sauce on the rice. it should look like this with more sauce:

Spaghetti Bolognaise
You poor thing! I can't see a child growing up that way!
It's a good thing you are interested in cooking. Much healthier than tv dinners. You should take some courses that local colleges offer to the general public. They are cheap and they have many introductory classes. Very fun too. Good Luck! :)
