Sweetened Condensed Milk?!

Question: Does Sweetened Condensed Milk have an expiration date. Does it last long after the expiration date??

Answers: Does Sweetened Condensed Milk have an expiration date. Does it last long after the expiration date??

Normally I'd agree with everyone else about expiration dates, but I gotta believe that sweetened condensed milk has enough sugar in it to survive until well after the apocalypse.

All canned products have expiration dates. It should be good for at least a couple of weeks after the exp date, but not too long after that.

Never take a risk with your health and life.

You could keep it for an additional couple of weeks, but after that toss it. Also if a can is dented or rusty it is a good rule of thumb to just toss it

It should have an expiration date. I wouldn't use it past a few days of the expiration date. If you've opened it, I wouldn't use it at all after the date.

Canned milk selection and storage

There are several brands to choose from, so it's pretty much a matter of personal preference when selecting evaporated or condensed milk. Cans or containers that are swollen should be avoided at all costs. Also avoid purchasing cans that are dented. Store in a cool, dark place away from heat. Since the milk solids can settle to the bottom, be sure to turn stored cans upside down every few weeks and use within six months.

The same storage procedures go for sweetened condensed milk in general. Unlike evaporated milk, condensed milk usually does have an expiration date, so check the can label closely when purchasing. Both should always be refrigerated after opening. Due to its high sugar content, condensed milk will last longer after opening than evaporated milk, but use both optimally within five to seven days after opening.

hope this helps. good luck and enjoy.

I would like to know how long after date it is, but things are dated for safety - however you are fine for a while after date, if it is within 6 months on a canned product you should be fine.
