make split pea soup with it. use this piece of ham to flavor the soup.

Go buy the 15 bean mix, add a can of crushed tomatoes, half of a chopped onion, a little chicken base, pepper and garlic, throw it all in the crock pot or boil it on the stove- it is delish!!!

split pea soup
ham and white beans
black eyed peas
pinto beans
pink beans
you choose

beans are always good, You could also cut and cube it and toss is in a casserole of scallop potatoes, makes a nice 1 dish meals.

Black Beans and Ham Soup
You can dice the ham you have leftover and use it in place of the hocks. Be sure you get the seasoned black beans
2 ham hocks
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained
2 carrots, chopped
2 stalks celery; chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
2 quarts water
1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
1 (46 ounce) can V-8 juice
Sour cream

Combine all ingredients except beans and sour cream in crock pot. Cover; cook on LOW for 7 to 8 hours.

Remove ham hocks and cut off meat; return meat to crock pot. Add the beans and cook for 1 hour or until beans are heated.

Serve with dollops of sour cream.

Great Northern beans would be great with your ham.....you could also make a complete meal with some mac and cheese with the ham cubed in it........also

Get Navy Beans. Here's real easy recipe:

Heat up some Olive Oil. Chop onion and saute onions until translucent. Dump in ham, beans and one can of water per 2 cans of beans. Heat to boiling. Simmer uncovered until soup is as thick as you like it. I usually use 4 cans of navy beans and cook it in an 4 qt pot.

Really good with this: Italian or French Bread with caramelized onions:

Caramelized onions:

Slice one onion (like onion rings)
Put into sauce pan. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Cook over medium to medium high heat, stirring frequently. Make sure there is always some balsamic vinegar in it. Cook until it looks like black goo. Sounds and looks bad,but trust me, is exquisite. Sweet and tart.

why not just a stew
dice the ham
add carrots cellery some hash brown potatoes an onion corn and some spice,, red pimentos,, green onions and parsley
?? get fancy add any veggie

Why not make scattered & loaded hashbrowns top your potatoes with ham chunks & your favorite cheese
