How to cook plain chicken breasts in a slow cooker?!
Answers: I like to have cooked chicken breasts on hand to cut up and throw in pastas, salads, etc. I love my slow cooker, but I've only cooked chicken breasts in sauces before. Obviously I can't just throw them in there dry, right? So, how do I cook plain chicken breasts in a slow cooker?
Brine them first. Soak them in a salt water mixture of 1 quart water to 1/4 cup table salt (or 1/2 cup kosher salt) for 3-4 hours or overnight. Then throw them in the crock pot on low with some low sodium chicken broth and some butter. They'll be great for pasta, salad, etc., and there won't be any seasonings that might clash with whatever dish you're making.
Any way you want to. You can cover them with tomato soup, or a tomato sauce, creak of mushroom soup, or cream of chicken soup, spaghetti sauce etc etc etc.
Or cover them with water, put a pack of Lipton onion soup mix in and some ajau(not sure about spelling) salt and pepper.
You could also cover them with your favorite BBQ sauce, add some water, and let them cook away.
Just add a little water and it will cook fine
salt and pepper the chicken and toss it in the crockpot.
add a bottle of cheap barbque sauce.
let it go all day and shread the chicken
makes good sammies.
cut up the chicken and toss it in
add some chicken broth
add some dry noodle
cook that on low all day
Or toss in the seasoned chicken with a jar of spaghetti sauce.
let it kick all day. make sone riggatoni to go with it when you get home.
Or cut up the chicken into small pieces and add some tomato sauce 3 tablespoon of chile powder 2 cans of navy beans and some 2 cups of water with 3 tablespoon flour whisked together and let that chili cook all day.
I could go on and on.
Remove the excess fat and skin from the chicken breasts, rub with herbs and spices and brown the outside in a hot skillet. Put in the crock pot along with 1/4-1/2 cup water or chicken broth. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours.
