In my opinion, no. I bought a $50 cast iron griddle/grill over a $150 Le Creuset griddle/grill and I love it. It works great and came well seasoned.

I suggest doing some research on other coated cast iron brands.

Absolutely! You will have it forever. It's a great investment.

We absolutely LOVE ours.
Unlike regular cast iron pans, you can wash these with soap and water or even in the dishwasher. Even with that, they still cook just as evenly and perfectly as a cast iron pan. They're pretty wonderful.

Yes. I have used my Le Creuset pots for more than 15 years, and I have yet to have to replace them. I enjoy the even cooking temperatures, and the ease of care. Just do not soak them in any product containing bleach.

Also, shop the web sites to find special deals, I do see Le Creuset at Marshall's from time-to-time as well.

I own a le creuset oval dutch oven. I love it. But I am going to buy the Martha Stewart version at Macys. It is a fraction of the cost, especially on sale. If you can afford to spend that, I would buy.

Without knowing the price or what it is, I can tell you that you can buy something just as good 5 times and throw it away for the same cost.

If you're thinking that large casserole, then I think you're okay. But many of their products are no better than the cast iron skillets or pots you could find in hardware stores in the south. Le Creuset is cast iron with a name. I recommend the casserole because almost no one else makes that particular pot. Think of it this way: "Le Creuset" is french for "cast iron." It's has all the properties (positive and negative) as any other cast iron product. Paying for the name isn't necessary here.

They are FANTASTIC, worth every penny, will last a lifetime.

Buy the biggest you can afford........THEY ARE TOPS.

Too heavy for me. They are good for slow baked dishes.

If you're more into the decor and the fashion-statement of your kitchen than it's mere functionality, by all means go for Le Creuset. But if you're more into cooking than preening, go for Lodge cast iron. Le Creuset is enameled cast iron, Lodge is unadorned cast iron. Both companies manufacture a variety of cooking vessels: skillets, Dutch ovens, casseroles, etc., of equal quality. Both are heavy for their size (especially the large casseroles). When properly seasoned, Lodge quickly becomes non-stick, which Le Creuset already is when you acquire it, since it's enameled. After some use you will have some discoloration and some unavoidable chipping of the enamel of Le Creuset. Both will outlive you and your children. The cost of Lodge is a fraction of the cost of Le Creuset. You can explore both much further on the web, as both have websites.

no no no le creuset is so not worth the price. in the fifties and sixties julia child use to talk about her descoware. i own 2 pieces and i couldn't be happier. you can still find pieces all around, garage sales and estate sales. descoware is still the best. i thnk they were bought out by le creuset and they quite making them because of the cost. the orange flame is my favorite, and still going strong after 50 years.

In my opinion they are great---------I use them at home and at my restaurant-both for years.
