Answers: thanks

fresh potatoes sliced in thin circles in a casserole dish and baked in oven with a base of milk or cream with just a little flour to thicken and then salt and pepper to taste .....you can add shredded cheese and it would be au gratin scalloped....you can also place very lean quality seasoned pork chops on top and bake covered for about an hour at 350 and you have a great dinner......enjoy!

sliced into thin slices and cooked with cheese milk etc into a cassorole

Scalloped means thinly sliced and cooked in a cream sauce. Au Gratin means scalloped potatoes w/ grated cheese added, usually sharp cheddar.

The person who wrote sliced thin and cooked in milk and butter in the oven is right how ever in fish shops in some parts of Australia a Scallop potatoe is a thin sliced potatoe dipped in batter and deep fried also known as a potatoe cake.

Generally, it means thinly sliced potatoes cooking in a cream sauce or cheese sauce.
