How Can I make A Cake Mix More interesting ?!

Question: well im not sure how to make it more interesting (maybe decorative frosting?) however if you want the cake more moist if it is cake mix from a box, instead of putting oil in it put apple sauce in it. You will not taste the apple sauce after it is cooked, it will be healthier, and the cake will be very moist.

for example if the mix calls for a cup of oil add a cup of apple sauce. And if your hesistant you can always put 1/2 cup apple sauce and 1/2 cup oil.

Enjoy :)

You could add some chocolate chips!!! That would be yummy! (everyone secretly craves chocolate!) Maybe, if you are not allergic, you could put some peanuts in it, depending on the cake mix. If you have a vanilla cake, you could put in some sprinkles!

Kick up the flavour! Add lemon zest, raspberry jam in a swirl or applesauce in place of some of the liquid in the recipe. No one will ever know you used a mix!

If it's a chocolate cake mix, try adding cocoa powder and chocolate chips for richness, and a little espresso/strong coffee to accent the chocolate flavor.
For a white cake, maybe add some sour cream to make it super moist. Or you could turn it into a spice cake by adding cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and allspice. :)

Add some dark chocolate pieces, and u can add it on the top of the cake so it will look very nice!!

When you are done baking it like normal, take a fork and cut holes in it and pour some evaporated milk on top. Let it soak in and top with whip cream.

OH MY GOD it taste like a Hostess Cupcake... so moist

you could add food coloring. you can use regular food coloring that you would get in the baking aisle or you could also find professional food coloring (available in some grocery stores as well as most cooking speciality stores) to add a kick of color to a vanilla or yellow cake mix. Sprinkles are also very fun. If you did a layered cake, each layer could be a different color!!

you can add fruit any kind different spices instant pudding jello candied nuts coconut

add some pudding mix to the cake mix and add chocolate chips sprinkles, or some type of candy that will melt into the mix

Instead of water I always add liqueurs! If I'm making a spice cake I add Galliano or Ricard, or if I'm adding nuts to the cake, perhaps some hazelnut liqueur. For a chocolate cake, it's always good dark rum or a really deep luscious Port. I love using flavoured vodkas to give a hint of fruit flavour to plain white cakes.

The heat of the oven always makes the alcohol dissipate and only the delicious flavours are left behind. There should never be any fear of "getting drunk" or triggering tendencies in a recovering addict when you use liqueurs in baking.

Depends on what you are making it for - my my daughter, she loved it when I put sprinkles in the batter - makes a pretty cake when you cut it......

Add 1 c. mayonaise. It adds moistness.

To jazz up a plain cake mix:

Mix according to directions on the pkg.
Add 1 cup of sour cream to batter.
Pour half of the batter into a well greased bundt or tube pan (will work in any pan, just not quite as well).

Mix together:
2 Tablespoon light brown sugar,
1/2 cup chopped nuts (we prefer pecans),
2 Tablespoons cinnamon.

Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture around the cake and cover with the rest of the batter.

Take a butter knife and gently make swirls through the cake to gently distribute the cinnamon mixture. Do not mix into cake, just spread around a little.

Bake at 350 for 1-11/2 hrs. if using bundt or tube pan.

After cake is done use the following glaze to pour over the cake.
Glaze:
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons vanilla

Mix together and drizzle over cake while it is still hot.

We call this a Sock It To Me Cake. A favorite around our house and so simple to make. Hope you give it a try sometime.

Enjoy!!

You could make a Death by Chocolate Cake

You will need:
Trifle bowl (or a deep bowl of some kind)
Chocolate cake (already baked)
Chocolate Instant Pudding (already prepared)
Large tub of Cool Whip (thawed until creamy)
4-5 Candy bars of choice chopped up(I prefer this dessert w/ Butter finger)

Bake a chocolate cake according to the directions on the box (in a 9x11) pan. After it has cooled break it into chunks.

Make your pudding according to the directions.

Break up the candy bars until they are in bits and pieces.

Layer as follows:

Cake (on bottom)
Pudding
Candy
Cool Whip
************
Cake
Pudding
Candy
Cool Whip
**************
Top with more of the candy bar.

This dessert cake is by far one of my favorites!
A tiny bit of this goes a long long way... it is so rich!
Make sure you have a tall glass of milk handy!!!

I always add a box of pudding that is the same flavor. Instead of using water, I use milk. If I am making a lemon cake, I add a box of lemon gelatin, but you can do this with a white cake mix or yellow using any flavor that you like. Also, I add vanilla to all box cake mixes. You can use cinnamon, nutmeg, or other extracts. The possibilities are endless. There is a cookbook titled The Cake Doctor and it has tons of recipes to enhance the boxed cake mix.

Make : Dump It In Cake

Use a yellow or white cake mix.

In a well buttered 9x12 baking pan: Pour in one can Cherry pie filling an one can Chunk Pineapple (including juice). Put both in pan distributing as even as possible.

Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of chopped pecans. Put little dabs of butter all over the top of the pan using 2 TBS. of butter.

Do not add any ingredients to the dry cake mix! Just sprinkle it evenly over the ingredients in the pan.....

Put little dabs of butter over the top of the dry cake mix (about 4 TBS.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes.

can serve warm or cold... with or without ice cream or whip topping.

People request this for pot lucks all the time.....MMMMMM

Oh I love to make box cake mixes. Instead of adding water, which is what the recipes normally calls for I use juice. My favorite is the Strawberry flavor mix. What ever amount of water it ask for I use Strawberry juice or nectar. It adds so much flavor and then topped with soften cool-whip and refrigerate for a few hours just until the cool-whip hardens a little. Serve cold and OMG so yummm and refreshing. I always make this cake in the summer time, the kids love it.
