Do you prefer a natural gas or electric stove?!
Answers: I have an electric oven (and had it for years)...the broiler has gone out and it is way too old to repair. I am considering getting a gas cook stove versus an electric one. Which do you prefer and why?
I've had both. Just bought a new gas oven and would not have it any other way, easier to regulate and some of the new features are great. you can turn the knob for the burner to the lowest position and it simmers and does not go out.
Bought a whirlpool Brand $500
i like gas , thats because i am in the food industry, The second best i have seen is glass top stoves.
I've been using electric for the past 10 years and you do get used to it.
However, I personally prefer gas since it seems more responsive while electric takes time to heat and takes time to cool.
I prefer a gas stove, but an electric oven. Gas changes temps faster and gives you much better control over cooking. Also, you can use gas to flame a pan (in the event you need to do so). Electric changes temps more slowly and, generally, over a larger area. Also ,it's much harder for an electric oven (or broiler) to light your dinner on fire.
gas powered stove it cooks faster ,it burns food less and food taste better with it. I too am in the same situation, I currently have an electric stove and it sucks. I usually go to family or friends house to cook with there gas powered stove, cause electric does really suck.
Gas is better for the cooktop and electric for the oven. I would get a dual fuel range.
go with gas bcuz when the power goes out u still have a stove to cook with and gas stoves r alot cheaper to maintain now of days
I too prefer gas. it is just the easiest to work with. oh just a point of order I have never seen a commercial kitchen with electic burners yet. food for thought.
added- If worried about gas leaks make sure you get someone professional to install it. you should have no problems.
Real chefs and experienced home cooks prefer gas, 'cause of it's quick heating and grilling ability. My wife however, prefers electric for more even baking temp. and easy clean up.
I like electric. Probably just because I'm used to it & am a little nervous of gas leaks (I have a bird). I have a flat ceran top stove so it's nicer than the coils that get so dirty.
I have used gas in an RV but not a whole lot. Some people who use gas swear by it.
I own an electric but the ceramic (smoth top) stove. I did not think I would like it but it is great. Granted if I was to choose I think between this and a gas it would be close.
As one person mentioned you can use your stove if the electric is out which is true BUT the new one have a electric ignition so without power it still does not work. My mom learned that the hard way.
gas, you can control the heat far better than on an electric stove
I think gas stoves cook better but right now I have an electric stove: in my last house I had several gas leaks and it spooked me enough that when it came time to get my new stove, I automatically went to an electric model. I regret it sometimes, to be honest.
I like gas mainly because that's what I'm used to cooking on. I had an electric stove for awhile and ruined everything I cooked. I would say stick with what you like and are used to using or else meals might be a disaster in your house until you get the of hang it.
I prefer cooking with a gas stove. Its instant heat and I seem to be able to regulate the heat better. Good luck with your decision.
This might be odd, but for baking I prefer electric and for stove top cooking I prefer gas. I bake more than I cook and I have an electric stove that I love, but I miss my old gas stove.
The new electric ceramic top stoves heat instantly, just like gas. No chance of setting your sleeve on fire over an open flame, or a child being burned. Electricity won't blow up on you, no elements to clean, no odour (my biggest beef) and I think just a lot safer. I wouldn't part with my electric stove for anything but it's all a matter of taste. Each have their good and bad points.
I used to have an electric stove and I loved it! If you grew up around it, you know the exact settings and timing. I worked in a kitchen with gas stoves and hated it, especially relighting pilot lights. We moved into a house with a gas stove and I still hate it. The slightest breeze makes the pilot go out. And I don't like having to lay on the floor to watch the broiler work. If I had my way (which I probably never will) I'd switch back to electric in a heartbeat.
gas ........ I guess with my experience it is easier to regulate the heat
