What goes with a BLT?!

Question: Making BLTs for dinner tonight, but the kids will eat them fast and want more. Any good ideas for side dishes to slow them down a bit?

I would say tomatoe soup..... that goes good. Like grilled chz and tomatoe soup, mmm :)

and why not cut the blts into 4 triangles and make them like finger sandwiches? Give them a bowl of tomatoe soup or sumthin, and a few peices of BLT with it. When you're picking on it a little bit at a time, it goes slower & fills you up faster.

Doc

I always mac ma&chez when I make BLTs. throw on some turkey meat or ham to make it a club sandwich and fill them up a bit more!

Make a tomatoe soup. Saute one chopped onion and 1-2 cloves minced garlic until translucent, add one 16 oz can of diced tomato, one 16 oz can of chicken broth and 1 teaspoon dried thyme or oregano. Simmer 5-10 minutes. If you want you can puree the soup using a stick blender or food processor (be careful!) and or add some cream. Or serve with a dollop of sour cream. Hot, healthy and delicious right from the pantry.

Another easy side from the pantry is oven fries - peel Idaho potatoes and cut them into rounds or sticks. Let soak in cool water for awhile to remove the outer starch. Dry the pieces and toss with olive oil, salt and pepper. Arrange in one layer in a roasting pan or flat sheet pan. Bake in a hot oven 400-425 degrees for 40-60 minutes, turning once. The time varies depending on how large or small you cut the potatoes and how many of them you are making at one time.
