The easiest way, if you don't know how is to use a mix. Jiffy makes a good one. Otherwise, there are tons of recipes. You'll need cornmeal, eggs, milk and oil/shortening or butter.

depending on how much cornbread you are making......but here is how I make mine:
I take cornmeal (white meal is better than yellow) and pour it into a bowl, depending on how much I'm going to make. I take some vegetable oil (or canaola, any type of oil) and pour about a teaspoon full into the bowl. I take some milk and pour about about a 1/2 cup and mix it up. The batter will still be dry but then you add water until your batter is mixed well and sort of thin....
I usually take a small cast iron skillet or small baking dish and spray with cooking spray or brush on some oil around the pan or dish.....I pour the batter into the pan and bake the bread on 375 degrees for about 30 minutes or until the the top is golden brown and baked all the way through
1 C yellow cornmeal
1 C stone ground cornmeal
1 (9 oz.) package yellow cake mix
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cayenne
1/2 C milk
1/2 C buttermilk
1/4 C vegetable oil
2 eggs, beaten
2 T light brown sugar
2 T honey
1 T mayonnaise
Combine cornmeals, cake mix, baking powder, salt and cayenne in a bowl, set aside.
Combine milk, buttermilk, oil, eggs, brown sugar and honey in a bowl and mix well. Add to the cornmeal mixture and mix gently - there should be no lumps, but do not overmix. Fold in the mayonnaise. Let rest, covered, in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or up to overnight.
Preheat oven to 400° F. Spoon the cold batter into a greased muffin tin or a cast iron skillet. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean and the top is golden brown.
Go to the store and find a box that says cornbread mix. Get all of the items needed and read the directions on the box...
