Whats the best Hamburger to use when making Chili?!
Answers: I like ground chuck 80 percent lean to 20 percent fat...it's lean enough but not so lean it has no flavor..just drain off fat after cooking.
doesn't matter as you should drain the fat after browning anyways
edit
you people are idiots, you can't even aswer her question.
crap like, use turkey or put sausage in,she 's not asking that she asking if it makes a difference between reg, lean,or extra lean ,of coarse if your bill gates you buy the best but the rest of us can use whatever ground meat we have and drain the fat off after we have browned it............................thumbs down, bloody hell ...bunch of amatuers, wankers
Good quality ground beef, and i would do a little chorizo sausage too... the better quality beef you use the better it will taste.
I always use ground turkey, it's better for you & you can hardly tell the difference. If your heart's set on using the best beef though, buy sirloin & grind it yourself.
Hamburg that has a higher fat content is generally more flavorful, but it also has more calories and more saturated fat. And remember, if you use the 75% "lean" hamburg, you are going to throw a full 1/4 of it away. That makes your $2.99 a pound hamburg really cost $3.99 a pound.
If you do choose to go with the higher fat content hamburg, make sure to drain all of the fat off after you've browned it before continuing with your chili. Otherwise you'll have a greasy mess when you're done.
Some fat will improve the taste, lo-fat is too dry.
But try ground chicken or turkey, if you're dieting.
The ole man said it best!!!
