How to make sauce for meatballs?!

Question: Okay, I am a terrible cook, and I am trying to make sauce for meatballs. In a pan on the stove I put 3 big jars of tomatoes and I put a very small jar of tomato paste in it. Now that I look at it I'm relizing that sauce doesn't have big chucks of tomatos in it. Is there anyway to fix my mistake using what I've already got in the pan that is on the stove.? Also, is it even suppose to be on the stove?

DIRECTIONS
In a bowl, combine the eggs, onion, bread crumbs and salt. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into 1-1/2-in. balls. In a large skillet, brown meatballs in batches in oil. transfer to a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish.
In a saucepan, combine the sauce ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until cookie crumbs are dissolved. Pour over meatballs. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 40-45 minutes or until meat is no longer pink.

Let it keep cooking - or put in a small can of stewed tomatoes. The longer you cook the sauce the better. If you want to add a new twist add some worcestire sauce to it... You can add canned mushrooms, or zucchini, or canned olives or bell peppers and onions and garlic or just add it all. We love chunky veggie filled sauce. You just remember you can't mess it up! Its a method not a recipe (I keep telling myself this! LOL)
To answer you, yes simmer it on the stove. Your doing just fine. I have made sauce from tomato sauce too, its just fine.

Use what you have, add basil and garlic powder... if you have anise seed that makes it nicer too....
if you have more tomatoes add them.....

You are doing fine....

add 1 TBS of sugar to cut the tin can taste.

Yes you cook it on the stove..... you cook the meat balls in a frying pan or on a baking sheet in the oven....do not cook in the sauce........
