that pan is just an easy way to make a layer cake without having to make 2 or 3 cakes. you would simply bake the cake and cut the bottom of flat with a cake leveler or a knife and then just decorate it. no need to stack cakes for the same effect. its only a 2 inch round and 3 inch round cake so cooking and cooling shouldnt be a problem.
I would assume that you put the cake mix in then place it upside down in the oven and it fills the container, then let cool and cut off excess.
That's a pretty big pan to fill and bake. My main concern would be the middle of the cake cooking through, and ability to fit it in the oven and remove it easily. It will also take a long time to cool the cake before it could be frosted. I imagine it would be okay, as it looks like aluminum, and aluminum transfers heat with some serious efficiency.
I'm kind of a fan of layer cakes, but I also like the frosting in the middle. :)
I used to work at a home store...pans like this look cool, but never work-they never cook all the way and if they do they fall apart when you try to get it out. My advice: get two different pans and just place the smaller on top. Happy baking!
It should work very well. Be sure that you follow the directions carefully. Especially if it says grease it and flour it. Fill the pans exactly as full as it says, and bake the cake exactly the recommended time, at the recommended temperature. Don't try any shortcuts, you will be just fine.
You just fill it with batter and make sure you grease the pan.Bake it upright then cool and release from pan.
i guess nobody looked at the size its 2x2 and 2x3 inches, it should work fine for a 2 tiered cupcake... it'll be cute, though!
The pan is upside down in the picture. You'd have to turn it over to bake in it. BTW it's a very tiny pan, maybe two cupcakes worth of cake....
