Not for nothing, I am Italian, and pasta is not a very healthy dish.... It is all starch. Starch turns to Sugar, Sugar turns to fat...

Why do you think we (Italians in general, sorry to all my Italian brothers and sisters.) are such large people. Because as we have grown up, our old school relatives, Nanna, Pappa, Mom's and Dad's, they ate and fed us pasta with everything..... It is OK once and a while but, my god if you were to eat it all the time, you would look like the stay Fresh marsh mellow man from Ghost Busters or the Michelin man...

but, if you insist on something simple try, Oil ogl'e...

Basically, heat some Extra Virgin Olive oil in a pan, crush up some garlic and a pinch of basil and oregano.

Cook the pasta and drain it and toss it in the pan with the oil... stir it around for a couple of minutes letting the garlic and seasonings mix it...

Sprinkle some cheese on it... (FAT FREE CHEESE)

and there you go. Simple....

tomatoes, chicken, beef, salmon, broccoli, green beans, peas, mushrooms, EVERYTHING goes with pasta

past on a diet?? i wonder what diet fad that is...
go with a nice salad. they take a long time to eat so you feel full

Try a salad on the side.

prehaps not very healthy but i love sauagues in pasta!

Broccoli
Chicken

Shrimp
Boneless grilled Chicken
Turkey

Na'an bread. But if you are looking for a no-carbs diet, go with salad. A little salad dont hurt anybody!

Dont put alot of dressing though, that could add serious calories to the overall salad, wasting the point of it.

Sausage!!!!!!!!

You can eat anything with pasta but on a diet you are better off to leave the pasta off your plate. Vegetables are much better than any kind of pasta for losing weight.

Have you tried chicken, shrimp, or crab?

Also, use fresh garlic, onion, mushrooms, green, red, yellow peppers...and fresh spices...fresh veggies...tofu...

All will liven up any pasta dish....

Also, you should eat more of the veggies and lean meat than pasta...

THREE BEAN PASTA

1 pound Medium or Wide Egg Noodles, uncooked
1 15-oz. can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 15-oz. can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
1 cup frozen green beans, thawed
1 small red onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, seeds and ribs removed, chopped
3 tbsp. Dijon mustard
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
3 tbsp. red wine vinegar
3 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley

Prepare pasta according to package directions; drain. Rinse under cold water and drain again.

In a large bowl, stir together the pasta, kidney beans, chickpeas, green beans, onion and bell pepper. In a small bowl, stir together the remaining ingredients. Toss pasta with dressing and serve.

I like zucchini and yellow squash with shrimp.

chicken?!
tomato sauces?! there are some healthy options!
peas and ham?!

Stir fry your favorite veggies and a few shrimp or a little chicken, add a little wine, water or broth to make a gravy (thicken it with a little cornstarch) and mix in the cooked pasta and perhaps some frozen spinach. Heat til warmed through. I like to use red bell peppers, mushrooms and onions with spinach or asparagus.

I love cooking up spaghetti & you can place anything in it (i.e. ranch dressing) and just put whatever you like in it..I like chopped ham, green olives & cubes of cheddar cheese in mine..like I said you can put whatever you want in it!

Too much pasta can be bad if you are trying to loose weight. It is high in calories and carbs. A small amount is ok. It is all about moderation. Try buying some frozen vegetables (you can get some that you can cook right in the bag in the microwave, very easy and quick). Just mix them with a little pasta and fresh herbs.

salad.... any fish..... greens and miexed vegs.

mushrooms are really good with pasta

I MAKE AN OLD ITALIAN RECIPE THAT CONSISTS OF

SAUTED
BLACK OLIVES
DICED CHICKEN
FENNEL BULB OR (SWEET ANISE) depending on your area
ARTICHOKE HEARTS (canned or fresh)
TAKE ABOUT CUP OF CHICKEN BROTH AND CAN OF DICED TOMATOES AND SIMMER AND REDUCE

saute the veges and add to the sauce and simmer about 15 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste with some romano cheese grated... add to your pasta

Its quite yummy!!!

pasta isnt good to loose weight however.

Grilled Chicken, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Broccoli, Peppers, and Tomatoes....and spices to taste......

Peas, Basilic, Lettuce, Turkey with honey mustard, or olive oil with Lemon juice & mustard, Try to have flavors spices different dressings

Next time you go to the grocery store look for the boxed Pasta-Roni meals. They are delicious. Just follow the directions on the box. I keep several in the kitchen, my favourite is Garlic and Oil. I usually add more garlic power and salt to mine as the water boils.

fry some onions and then add either chicken breast, turkey or any kind of red meat.( turkey is the least fat and high in protein) and then add canned tomatoes( when cooking canned tomatoes it releases an antioxidant called lycopene wich has so much nutritional benefits for your body and reduces ur risk of cancer). let it all fry togepher for a 5 to ten mins. then u will have a very tasty and very healthy pasta meal

olive oil is good for you if you don't go overboard. Use a little bit to coat the pasta and make it not sticky.

Then add other goodies (not all together but mix and match or just alone)....
*mushrooms.
*sun-dried tomatoes .
*cottage cheese (no olive oil)
*cooked spinach
*salmon

find foods you like to eat, and make new meals for yourself.

I would actually try to stay away from the pasta on a diet but if you still have to have it I would take 5 shrimp and toss them in a pan with a small amount of oil, basil, and cajun seasoning. Put these on pasta with a small amount of marinara sauce and it is delicious. I am on weight watchers and it is only like 6 points max if you keep your portions low.
