How do I make my spaghetti taste better?!

Question: I have a can of spaghetti sauce and some pasta, and my spaghetti really isn't that good. Every time I make it it just isn't satisfying. What can I do differently when I make it again tonight?

Use bulk pork sausage for the meat, half-cook the shaghetti in salted water, then transfer to the meat, add1-2 cans of beef or chicken broth, sliced onions, bell pepper, and fresh mushrooms, a shake or three of Italian seasoning, and a tablespoon of sugar...if you like a mouth-watering kinda sweet flavor. And, by all means, add the spaghetti sauce to the meat while the meat is cooking! Then invite me over...I'll be Mikey!

Add some browned ground beef, maybe some garlic, we like mushrooms too.

Add some oregano or italian seasoning. Also, add a little bit of sugar to your sauce.

put a little sugar in it to get rid of some of the bitterness from the sauce.works well!!

Try throwing in some fresh ingredients into the sauce. Mushrooms are good, some onions, bacon (already cooked) adds a nice flavor too.

Put some Green peppers, onions and garlic cloves in a frying pan with some olive oil, fry them until done and add them to your sauce, very good and easy.

get some hamburger meat, season w/ salt, pepper, an italian seasoning, and meat tenderizer

Put in some artichoke hearts, mushrooms, sweet italian sausage or meatballs and grated romana or parmesan cheese.

As a quick fix, try some garlic powder and oregano in the sauce, maybe a little red pepper, let it simmer on the stove for a while until the sauce starts to turn a darker color.

I hate the canned or jarred stuff. Just as easy to get some tomato sauce and paste, some Italian seasoning, a bit of sugar, cook up some ground beef and ground sausage, mix and heat and keep tasting until its how you like it. I also you fresh crushed garlic. And I brown the meat in some olive oil and garlic, drain and then add to the sauce. I hate chunks in mine but if you like it you can add some crushed tomatoes also.

Depends how you like your sauce. If you like to have a bold flavor add fresh crushed garlic, oregano, pepper, mushrooms, Ground sausage. Yum, I am hungry just typing this.

Brown some mild or hot Italian sausage and add that to your canned sauce. Simmer 30 minutes or so to let the flavors blend.

Make your own sauce it's simple and great.

1 can diced tomatoes (garlic/basil) seasoned
1 can tomato sauce (same size can as diced tomatoes)
1 small can of tomato paste
1 medium onion chopped
chopped garlic to your tasting
sugar
1/2 cup water

combine these ingredients in a large pot, stir and simmer, while this is simmering I cook my ground beef, drain it then put it in the pot with the sauce, while this is simmering, put the pasta on to boil, easy, simple, good!!

maybe it is the spaghetti sauce.also do not overcook the noodles. i really love hunts spaghetti sauce roasted garlic and onion flavor.it comes in a 26 ounce can.also have garlic toast or cheesy bread with it and sprinkle your spaghetti on your plate with parmesan cheese.also i am assuming you are using meat you will brown 1 pound of hamburger, when it is done drain grease off add the can of spaghetti sauce to the meat heat through .take your cooked noodles drain in collander and rinse well then mix the sauce and noodles together.good luck.

add some meat, green peppers, onions, garlic, mushrooms and other seasonings you may have like garlic powder or something
and make sure you have some parmeson cheese to go on top, and of course some garlic bread too!

add everything wot they said!! some red wine a little beer and some lee and perrins chilli sauce the garlic sauce and loads of worster sauce!!!! YUMMY!!! (but not mushrooms and the artichokes) oooh and tomato puree! happy cooking!! save some for me!!!

I like adding some ground beef, mushrooms, and italian seasoning. let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes before you serve it.

If you want something more marinara like,
take 1 large jar of sauce and add:
1 can diced tomatoes
1 small can of sliced black olives
1 small jar mushrooms or equivalent of fresh mushrooms, sauteed with
1 green pepper and 1 small onion, chopped and sauteed in olive oil
1 lb of cooked cubed chicken

add all ingredients together in a pot large enough to hold everything and heat through, let simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, to let flavors combine. Serve over a larger pasta such as linguine.

Brown some ground beef, chopped onion, and garlic in a large skillet. Then add the spaghetti sauce and heat it up. You can also add some seasonings, like basil, oregano, and pepper. Personally, I like the Barilla sauces (there are many varieties)

Make some homemade tomato sauce...canned Italian tomatoes, ground beef, garlic, olive oil, bay leaf, salt & pepper, it can be as simple as that, but way better than canned sauce.

If you're determined to use a canned sauce, here are some things you can add to help it taste better:

1. 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
2. 1 lb Italian Turkey Sausage, spicy, casings removed, sauted.
3. 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil and/or 1/2 cup chopped fresh oregano.
4. 1 T brown sugar
5. 1 T crushed fennel seeds
6. 1/2 onion, diced, sauteed
7. 1/2 cup good red wine
8. 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper and/or 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes.
9. 1 can tomato bisque soup
10. 1/2 package Velveeta cheese
11. 1/4 -1/2 cup good olive oil
12. 3 T tomato paste
13. 1/4 cup chopped sundried tomatoes in oil

You're better off making up your own sauce. I prefer turkey italian sausage over plain ground beef and my own seasonings. Adding some parmesan will enrich the flavor, and some black and/or red pepper will spice things up. Good luck!

I use two jars of Barilla Marinara Spaghetti Sauce, one small can of Italian flavored tomato paste and one can of the Del Monte diced tomatoes with garlic, basil, and olive oil. I put the Del Monte diced tomatoes in a sauce pan first and add all your favorite seasonings - minced garlic (or garlic powder), onions, green peppers, oregano, Herbs of Provence, red pepper (1/8 tsp.), fresh ground black pepper, and I let this simmer for about 20 minutes which reduces the liquid a little and strengthens the flavors, then add this to the two jars and the tomato paste and let it all combine and heat up. Gives a great flavor. Also, this sounds crazy, but I love a serving of small curd cottage cheese served on the plate next to the spaghetti. It adds a nice taste to each bite of spaghetti. (use angel hair pasta). Does anyone else like cottage cheese with spaghetti?

add ground beef and onions or garlic to it...i like green bell peppers in mine .... but my hubby dont like it that way
