What to do with spinach before it goes bad?!
Is there anything I can do with it quickly so it lasts? Such as can I freeze it or just cook (wilt) it now so I can still use it to cook with later?
Answers: I bought a bag of fresh spinach, but it's about to go bad soon! I have recipe ideas but I'm not going to be cooking at home until after the date the bag says....

The best way to preserve spinach for winter use is to freeze it. Rinse the leaves well, place them in a resealable plastic bag and blanch them in the microwave (600-700 watts) for 1 minute, then place in the freezer. Spinach loses too much of its vitamin content if you blanch it in boiling water.
Eat it!
IF IT WILTS then it's too late, FREEZE IT BEFORE THE DATE!!!!
Erm... Eat it lol.
flush it
Give it to Popeye
Throw a bunch of leaves in the blender with some orange juice or other fruit juice and make a green smoothie..
take it out of the bag it came in wash it shake the excess water off put it in a ziplock bag w/a papertowel then put it in a regular shopping bag put it in your fridge it should be fine!
cook it, cut it up and mix it with some eggs, grated swiss cheese, onion, milk and put it in a pies crust, bake - et voila - Spinach Quiche
here is a nice website on perserving spinach
My kids eat it raw with ranch dressing. I just put it out on a plate with carrots and they love it. Also, chop it up and freeze it, put it in a zip lock and use it in omelets, sauces, you can also puree it and use it in baked goods. You can sneak it in brownies and cake, seriously it just adds moisture, no taste!
You can try making a omelet with it, I don't know, I like it a lot and after is cooked, can be freeze and use later.
I saw this "trick" once on a cooking show on the food network for keeping stuff like parsley, cilantro and spinach, but I never actually tried it. The chef heated two tablespoons of butter and then just stirred in the green leaves for a minute. Then he put them in a plastic box and froze them, said they would last forever and wouldn't lose their fresh taste. Hope that helps.
if the date is gone, you should throw it away because it's not good for health. and if it's about to go then you should boil it and put it in a freezer so it won't go bad or you can cook it and put it a fridge so you can eat it anytime you want.
my mom always freezes everything... she says it works but idkk cause i dont wanna eat 3 year old gogurt.. but only for a few days, then maybe
Find a recipe for a dip.. like the one they have at Applebees... very yummy.
ooooooo maybe u should try making in a bowl put da spinach in a bowl nd den put some dry cranberry raisans dats goo, den grate some carrot peices, nd some parmesan cheese, nd den @ last just put ur favorite salad dressing
Use it instead of lettuce in a salad.
it's usually good for a week after the expire date.
Cook it and then place it in a strainer and let it drain. Then place in a freezer bag and use it at a later time.
