How to make choc chip cookies pink?!

Question: need em for a baby shower.
i assume a few drops of red food coloring will do it, but any advice is appreciated, like at what point to add the coloring, or any other ideas

I attempted to dye chocolate chip cookies green and pink one year, but it was a mess. It's very hard to get the color evenly distributed throughout the batter so that makes it a little difficult. I added the dye at the end of mixing so I definitely don't recommend adding it at that point. It was more effort that I think it was worth. If you do add color, I would think adding it with the butter and sugar would be best because the batter is still easy to stir at that point.

I think using m&m's would be great! Another idea is to melt white chocolate chips (or almond bark) and add red food coloring to it. Drizzle the food coloring over the cookies or dip half of each cookie into it. Adding a little shortening to melted chocolate chips will help them set. Refrigerate to set the chocolate.

Hope this helps!

Hmmm, you are right about the red food dye but I don't even think I would try as some of the chocolate will bleed out as it melt and you'll have very unappealing looking pancakes. I think. I could be wrong. Why not practice first. I would add the dye before adding the chips.

Add the food coloring right before you add the chips, in my opinion. I'd think a few drops of red food coloring would be fine, myself, personally. =)

I would add the food coloring before I added the chocolate chips - those go in at the last minute anyway. For that matter, you probably could beat it in along with the butter & sugar, though you might have to make it a wee bit darker than you intend to end up with. (Try a test bake too.)

You also might consider using white chocolate chunks instead of chocolate chips for a more pastel look.

Id like to know the same thing! I've tried before but they turned out brown with an ugly red tinge :)
Good Luck

well u could use white n red food colorin that way u can have pink cookies

i think pink m&ms would work best. food coloring probably won't be the best choice if you're using it with chocolate chips.

try using "white chocalate" chips and red food dye.

First... it has to be a gift of love or kindness...

You can probably never hope to get pink chocolate chip cookies, because even without coloring they turn too brown once they are baked. To be able to turn pink, they would have to be as close to white as possible. But even if they were only slightly tan at the end, even with very little red coloring you would probably end up with an apricot or light orange color. With more, you could probably hope for some shade of red or brownish red. But no pink.

Your best bet would probably be to use pink M&Ms (but they might not stand out too much in the tan cookie), or a combination of pink M&Ms and white chocolate chips to lighten the effect. Or, probably best, maybe you could dab on a bit of pink frosting, or spread on a little pink-tinged melted white chocolate, once they cool.

I would add the food coloring before the chips. Make sure you mix it well and its the color you want before you add the chips. Also another added that you should try white chips, that would be a good touch. It would make it look more "girlish". Good Luck!!!
