Why blend just milk?!

Question: So I was reading a hot chocolate milkshake recipe, and the very first step was to blend the milk (in the blender) for five seconds.
If you're just going to add the rest of the ingredients right after and blend, why do this?

Just curious, and thanks for any help!

By blending the milk, by itself, for a few pulses you incorporate air and it will make a frothier drink.

Enjoy!

It adds more air which might make it thicker.

Unusual step, but likely to aerate the milk going with the concept that ice cream is aerated cream, the author of the recipe may believe it helps blend the two ingredients.

I make milkshakes all day at work, and we just dump the stuff in a can and stuff the shake blender's blade into it, and we let it blend.

blending milk will make more buublly and smoothier and foamy
