When is a biscuit a biscuit and a bun a bun??!

Question: i just attempted to make some biscuits and 15 minutes later i ended up with fluffy bun rolls.. all im thinking is how the hell !!??

i used a recipe from the bbc which said use;
flour, 1 egg and butter.. mix until a dough forms, roll out and cut into shape.. bake for 10 minutes

but instead of getting chruncy biscuits it came out as thick fluffy bread rolls..
so what on earth did i make.. buns or biscuits??

Call them bisbuns. Cover all bases!

it doesn't matter.just eat them

Buns use yeast; biscuits don't.

You might have used too much baking powder.

They are still biscuits, just not as chunky as you would like.

I brush my biscuits with butter first, so they develop that buttery, crispy biscuit.

Sounds as though you have used self raising flour instead of plain - biscuit ( means twice cooked) should be cooked for longer than 10 minutes to get them crispy.

idk

how thick did you roll out the dough if it is too thick they will come out more like scones and you should not use self raising flour for biscuits it should be plain mind you there is a clue in the name of this flour i mean self raising should realy tell you it has baking powder in it

You have coked it with high heat so there has been no even baking. Outer crust has cooked before inside got any where. Also try piercing the biscuits with fork before baking next time.
