Can I substitute brown sugar instead of sugar in my peanut butter cookies?!

Question: I have had my peanut butter cookies recipe for a couple months now... besides the rest of the ingredients (which I have) it calls for a half a cup of sugar and a half a cup of brown sugar... I am out of sugar... can I use a full cup of brown sugar... hence, I don't have regular sugar?

I almost always use brown sugar rather than regular sugar in cookie recipes, only cuz I like the extra kick and extra richness it gives the cookies, besides the cookies come out nice and chewy, no more hard pieces or rocks for cookies. Good luck, they should taste great!

Jason - you sure can. and they will taste great.

Of course, all brown sugar is, is sugar with molasses added... might change the flavor slightly.

They will be ok but might be flatter than usual because of the extra moisture.

You can but make sure you pack it down well as it is lighter than white sugar. Bon appetite!
