I have some cream of tarter that is about 6 months old. Can I still use it? How long does it last?!

Question: Cream of tarter is actually a by product of winemaking (fun fact). The crystals are scraped from the sides of wine barrels then the whole shindig is purified to a nice white powder.

Anyway, as long as you keep the container sealed and away from heat its good forever. I even found a website supporting my answer...

Yes it is still good.

Cream of tartar should live to a ripe old age of 1 year.

nfd?

Hi.
I think it will be ok for at least a year.

See ya!

I have some 2year old cream of tarter and its still going strong... loooooool.. I tend to hang onto my baking and spice goods much longer than most...

It will last about a year. I have used cream of tarter that age even longer and it was fine.

as costly as it is, I'd use it!!
