Quick! Mashed potatoes with no butter!!??!

Question: The potatoes are boiling and I just realized I don't have any butter! All I really have is milk (2%) and half and half. Will these turn out alright without butter???

You'll get the texture okay but you'll lose out on flavor. Do you have any sour cream? That could give it more richness. Maybe toss some shredded cheese in this time too to get more flavor.

They won't be as tasty. You could add some finely diced green onions to them. Gives a great flavour.

you should be o.k. if you use half and half.. that is creamier and will give it a richer taste.

It will be fine without the butter - if you have a tablespoon of sour cream or plain yougurt that will work as well.

hope this helps!

Use mayonaise

no, if you have any margerine put it in there

nope lol well mabe they might be etible if add lots of salt lol

it will be fine with the half and half. I hardly ever add butter to my mashed potatoes. I like them just fine with milk and salt. But since you usually add butter, I think you will be fine with the half and half. I love to add ranch dressing to mine too, if you have any.

of course

do you have any of these items to help fill in on your void of butter?

sour cream
bacon pieces
chives
garlic
shredded cheddar cheese
imitation butter flakes
chicken broth or stock

Do you have any dry salad dressing mix? Ranch and Italian are great. You might also cut back on the milk and use a liquid salad dressing.

if not already cooked thru - potato salad

add garlic and cheese

add sour cream

add half and half and use electric blender

add diced onion and pat into cakes and fry in olive oil

They won't be the best, but you can add some diced veggies for a good result!

a little bit of milk will do the trick. . . .milk and butter. . .oh wait. . . milk will do.

Do they have to be mashed?

You can put the potatoes in a bowl (don't mush them, leave them as is, assuming they are chopped in squares), add olive oil, salt, pepper, sour cream, cheddar cheese and bleu cheese for tasty potatoes

yes just use a little bit of gravy or seasoned salt and pepper or parmesean cheese.

use some miracle whip or mayonaise

They won't taste "quite right" but yeah they will be okay. All the suggestions are great but another one is if you have cream cheese, add that in.
