Made a recipe mistake..Will they taste gross?!

Question: I just made muffins. I was following a recipe and cutting it in half. By accident, I forgot to cut the amounts of baking soda, baking powder and salt in half. Everything else is the right amount, do you think this will throw my recipe off or do you think the baking powder taste will stand out?

I don't think it will make that much difference. Baking powder and soda, makes your dough rise, so they should puff up a bit more and as far as the salt taste goes, not that much. Your main ingredient is flour so it will absorb most of those flavors. Your mistake might be better than the original one. Serve sweets along with your muffins, and everyone will enjoy them. Just smile and don't mention your mistake.

Oh dear... Don't expect too much out of it. I will be impressed if they even rise correctly.

Wait and see!! I guess the muffins will be pretty dry, but fingers crossed ;-)

If you've enough of the other ingredients to make it a full batch, stir them in. If not, expect a bitter tasting half batch.

Might be overly salty, or they might just rise a LOT and be bigger than you expected. Bake em up anyway and see...lots of good things sometimes come from mistakes :)

Why don't you check out the recipe again?

Take a look at this free ebook with 490 award winning recipes, maybe you can find what you're looking for in it.

There probably gonna have a bitter taste from the soda.Do you have the stuff to make a full batch...flour and sugar, eggs etc.I would do that. You can taste the batter, you'll know if its ok or not...

I would just double everything else and make twice as much.
