How do I cook a one inch sirloin steak on a George Forman grill if I want it done medium/medium rare?!

Question: I am terrible at cooking. Just like the question says - I have a one inch sirloin steak, already marinated the way I want, and I have a George forman grill to cook it on.

I really need to know what temperature it should be at (I think on the GFs you put the temp...) how long on each side and when to flip and all that if I want it to come out to medium / medium rare (pink in the middle but mostly clear juices).

Yes, I know outside grills are best, I don't have one. What I do have is a George Forman grill (which I've never used before) and I really need some help. I tried to pan fry a steak the other day and it was a disaster... I'd rather not repeat that.

Thanks in advance for your help!

My George Forman doesn't have variable temperature, but if yours does then set it on high. You shouldn't have to turn the steak as the GF cooks top and bottom at the same time. A light coating of oil on the cold GF will prevent any sticking and aid clean up. Then preheat the grill by turning it on for 5 minutes. Then put the steak on the hot grill, close the top, and grill for 5 minutes. Cut a slit in the steak to see if its done to your liking. If not, then cook a minute or two longer. After cooking, spread a damp paper towel over the grill and close the top; the resulting steam will make it very easy to just wipe your grill clean with a paper towel.

try on highest 5 minutes each side. Just make a cut in the center to look. Actually 1 inch is kinda thick, may wanna extend a lil to 7 mins.
