How do you make homemade corndogs?!


Question: Corn Dogs

1 cup corn meal
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons melted shortening
1 pound frankfurters
Wooden skewers
Mix corn meal with flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add egg and milk; blend in melted shortening. Mix well.

Skewer frankfurters and dip in batter. Stand skewer-side up and fry in deep-fat fryer at 350*F (175*C) until golden brown, about 2 or 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Makes 8 servings.

I usually soak about 1/4 to 1/2 cup cornmeal in about 1/2 to 1 cup milk for about 30 minutes. then I mix in pancake mix (1 cup and enough water to make batter thin but not watery)

Corn Dogs

1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup white sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 quart vegetable oil for frying
2 (16 ounce) packages beef frankfurters
16 wooden skewers

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a medium bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper, sugar and baking powder. Stir in eggs and milk.

2. Preheat oil in a deep saucepan over medium heat. Insert wooden skewers into frankfurters. Roll frankfurters in batter until well coated.

3. Fry 2 or 3 corn dogs at a time for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Drain on paper towels.

SUPER CORN DOGS

1 cup corn meal
1 cup flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoon oil
1/2 tablespoon powder curry
1 small can cream corn
1/2 cup corn starch
8 regular franks
1 slightly beaten egg
8 popsicle sticks

Be sure franks are dampened a bit but not wet. Mix all ingredients together, including egg, creamed corn, and oil. Add buttermilk a little at a time until it is at the right consistency. Almost like a cake batter). Set aside for a few minutes allowing baking powder to rise.
Place corn starch in a flat dish. Push popsicle sticks into franks and roll then in the corn starch, shake off eccess, then coat with the batter.

Heat enough oil in a pan to cook four dogs at a time. Cook to the degree of brownness you desire.

Corn Dog Bites Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup all purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons melted bacon drippings
1 egg beaten
1-1/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
16 ounce package frankfurters
Vegetable oil

Directions
Combine flour, baking powder, salt, cornmeal and sugar then stir in bacon drippings.
Combine egg, buttermilk and soda and mix well and stir into flour mixture mixing well.
Cut each frank into 10 pieces.
Dip franks into batter coating completely.
Fry in 4 inches of hot oil at 375 until golden turning once.
Drain on paper towel.
Serve immediately with desired condiments
