What is the lifespan of a microwave oven?!

Question: Mine is 20 years old. When should it be replaced?

Answers: Mine is 20 years old. When should it be replaced?

Mine was that old when it died. Just absolutely stopped so older ones last awhile. Keep it till it breaks.

depends on what condition it is in.these days you can buy a good microave for 40-50 pounds

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Mines nearly 15 and apart from a couple of running repairs it's still pinging strong.

it should be replaced when time comes that toasters could bake and microwave ovens could cook meals more than your ussual microwave t.v. dinner entre.

guess it depends how much it has been looked after!
my friend just bought a new 1 & her 5year old put in a cup wit d teaspoon in & bang it went!
i usually make sure its wiped clean after each use, especially IF my beloved partner dont put the cover over food when warmin soup OR baked beans!
we have only had ours for about 2years now.the 1 before we had for about 8years & we only changed it as we moved house & kitchen was smaller in the new place!

God thats only 7 years younger than i!!!! I had got mine about 9 months ago and already the paint is coming off, its in a sorry state. I am sure you must have the oldest microwave. I would of said for you to start a contest but there is no way for people to prove that they are telling the truth.

I think as long as it is running you should keep it. they don't make appliances like they used too. I've had my combo , micro & convec. for 8 years . My repairman told me to hang onto it,,

Now................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess they don't make them like they use to. That is a real dinosaur. I bet it weighs a ton. They last until they break and then they are only about $30-$40 nowadays.

WalMart has a microwave oven that also works like a regular oven and a toaster oven. I had one in the last kitchen I worked in and it was great for all kinds of things. The toaster oven was nice since the food rotated around to brown evenly. It was a bit pricey at around $185, but I would love to have one sometime.
