Filet Mignon Directions HELP!!!!?!
Answers: Okay, so I have about 6 or 7 small sliced thin pieces of steak and a couple packs of bacon. What seasonsings do i put on the steak? And after that, i know i roll it up and then wrap the bacon around the steak. So what are the seasonings i put on the steak, and how long do i cook it in the oven (temputure, how many minutes)...and do i put it on like a pan? Tell me everything, and some sidedishes! thanks so much guys!!!
Filet Mignon is a cut from the tenderloin, the most tender part of the beef. Usually cut to about and inch or an inch and a half in thickness. Wrapping the bacon around it makes it the Mignon part of the Filet Mignon.
To wrap it take a slice or two of bacon and carefully wrap it aound the edges of it securing it with a couple toothpicks.
It should be cooked at a high temp, to sear in the flavor. for a medium rare steak, about 5-7 minutes per side.. and up from there. Because it is such a tender and flavor cut of beef very little seasoning is required, I would suggest garlic salt/ powder and pepper.
If you are using a cut of beef other than the filet, I sometimes make bacon wraped hamburgers, same would apply, but becasue we don't know the cut of beef it is hard to say how to cook it. Many cuts of the beef, do better at different temps, and styles of cooking. Do you know what cut it is?
Use salt and pepper.
Brown them first in a frying pan with a little bit of vegetable oil. Put them on a cookie sheet pan and put them in the oven at 350 F for about 10 min.
I use a meat thermometer:
130 F = rare
155 F = well done

Pour the salad dressing into a shallow pan, place the steaks in the pan, and let them marinate for 3 to 4 hours. Prepare a fire in a charcoal grill. Wrap a strip of bacon around each steak, securing it with a toothpick.
Grill the steaks over hot coals for about 8 minutes per side (5 minutes per side for rare).
