Frozen Mackerel: Can I put them straight on a tray and into the oven, whats the best way?!

Question: It's best to thaw a mackerel in my opinion, this way you can make sure it's properly cleaned unless of course you have total trust in your fish monger.
I like to do mine the old fashioned Scots way of coating them in oatmeal then pan frying them till crispy and golden brown.
A feast for mackerel lovers far and wide.
Fish thaw quite quickly under running cold water.

It is better to thaw them first as they will cook more evenly.
I bake them skin side, to get a really crispy skin.

Just lift mackeral up and put on a tray open oven door and put tray in oven, close oven doior simple.

A month ago I would have said thaw it.
My daughter told me she never thaws a fish anymore first, straightaway into the oven, cook about 45 min to an hour depending on the thickness, and it does not dry out.
I would not have believed it but she is absolutely correct. now I freeze all my fish fillets individually and laying flat so they can go directly in the oven frozen.

Personally i wouldnt
they are best eaten fresh and well cooked they have a high
risk of scrombotoxin being scavengers.
