Need an answer from a Chief that knows Italian sauces?!
Mi-za-rith.
All the vowels pro-nounced short, not long.
This was the best spegetti I ever had. And I can't find the receipe for it in any of the cook books I have (and I have several). The resturant has since closed, so it's not like I can go there.
I'm hopeing that maybe a Chief might be familiar with this sauce and be able to help me out. I'd like to make this as a celebration dinner for my Son and his Girl that just announced they are with child. It would be different and special.
Answers: There was an Italian resturant called the Spagetti Factory in San Diego that my Grand Mother took me to. She ordered for me a spegetti plate with a sauce that I can only remember how she pro-nounced the name. I'm not sure of the spelling. It was pro-nounced...

Oh, I've found something. I'm in Louisville, KY. We have an "Old Spaghetti Factory" here. In checking their menu, I've found "Mizithra Cheese & Browned Butter" and there's a picture of the Parthanon next to it. Mizithra must be some sort of Greek cheese. Google.

If you say what the sauce was like probably that would be most helpful.
First colour - red, white, or rose ?
Was there meat or chicken or seafood in it?
What type of noodle - was it spaghetti or fettucine or something else.
If you can describe it - you can probably just make it.
I have eaten at the spaghetti factory - there is a good chance it was the name of the guy who made it or who knows - the name does not sound like any of the standards ie Alfredo, Pommodorro, marinara, puttenesca etc.
Mizithra Browned Butter Pasta
1 lb pasta
1 cup butter or olive oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup mizithra cheese, grated
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano
Cook pasta in large pot of salted, boiling water until al dente. Drain. When pasta is almost done, start slowly melting butter over medium heat until golden and bubbles subside. Saute garlic and toss pasta with butter garlic mixture. Sprinkle with cheese & herbs to taste. Enjoy!
I know very little about italian cuisine, but if you wanted to know the names of the sauce you are looking for, u might want to try going to Olive Garden or any italian restaurant, there should be someone thats an expert in thos restaurants.
good luck
Mi-za-ritha is a Greek cheese.. yummy - and it's awesome on pasta. You'll need to buy the cheese in a Greek specialty store.
Spaghetti with Browned Butter and Mizithra Cheese Ingredients
4 tablespoons Butter 6 ounces Spaghetti
1/2 cup Mizithra cheese shredded
Instructions for Spaghetti with Browned Butter and Mizithra Cheese
Cook pasta in salted water according to package directions.
While the spaghetti is cooking, heat the butter over medium heat; the butter will froth a bit, and then start to turn a nice golden brown. Let the butter cook until it is a light caramel color. Set aside.
Drain the pasta.
Carefully pour off the butter into a small dish, being careful to leave behind the solids that have settled to the bottom of the pan.
Mix the butter, spaghetti, and most of the cheese (save some to sprinkle on top).
Garnish with remaining cheese.
