Surely, when they cook an omlette in 45 secs on the Saturday Kitchen programme its not edible?!
Answers: but thanks to the miracle of Botox you can not tell by looking at the eater's faces that it tastes like crap.
most the time it isn't
I certainly wouldn't want a taste!
That would be unhealthy. Yuck.
Of course it is - when it's cooked, it's cooked. [confused] A basic omelette is one of the quickest things to cook.
In a well seasoned pan, at the proper temperature, eggs will cook pretty quickly.
It may cook completely before the cheese and other fillings are completely heated.
But I'm sure you could eat it no problem.
You are dead right. Anything cooked with extreme heat (which is how to cook an omelet fast) is no good as the fat and the eggs have been scorched. Not to mention the health detriment.

Hi,
i am sure that they have got iron stomache's.
I could not eat one that has only been cooked for 45 seconds!,
they have even done them in less time than that.
Even raw eggs are edible. There is very little chance of disease in the US.
I never saw the program you speak of and I never timed my omelette's but they cook fast unless you have a lot of eggs in them. Most people like them to be just slightly wet or runny and they then firm up after they are plated.
What you see them cook in 45 sec is usually put under the counter and the final result (pre-made) is shown to the audience
If not NO it would not be a safe bet to eat eggs that way Although a lot of athletes do eat raw eggs I wouldn't recommend it
I have seen the show in question and being something of an omelette expert myself, I wouldn't go anywhere near one of those monstrosities! I doubt if even Scooby, the dog-dustbin himself would be that daft!
No and it always looks revolting too. It must be awful to have to pretend it tasted OK. Omelettes have to be partially cremated before I can eat them !
oh dear me yet another question from someone that is not a chef.
an omelet is one food that when cooked correctly is one that takes so little time to cook.
when it is cooked in the correct type of pan it takes less than a Minuit to cook properly however if you use a frying pan it wont as the pan is to big and too thin for the job and that is why an omelet pan is only small but is thick and made out of cast iron and you only use two medium eggs and when the omelet is cooked and folded remember that there is what is called latent heat that will continua to cook the omelet through simple to a professional but Allas not to an amateur housewife and yes it is edible
Then think about what it would be like at 19 secs which I have heard of. I should think that would be awful! Mind you they do have pre-heated pans and gas, which is quicker than electric. In general I find all the recipe timings, be it on tv or in books and magazines rather unrealistic! I always find things take quite a bit longer.
it could be it could not be
It will be edible, it'll just be so light and insubstantial that it wouldn't satisfy a moderately hungry sparrow!
Try this alternative:
Chicken and Tomato Pizza Omelette
You will need:
3 medium sized, free range, organic eggs
The meat from one pre-cooked chicken leg (torn into pieces)
1 medium sized tomato (deseeded and chopped)
1 outside slice of semi-stale bread
1oz (25g) of cheddar cheese (roughly grated)
Pinch of dried sage
Salt/freshly ground black pepper
Sunflower oil
Break the eggs in to a bowl and whisk vigorously. Put the bread flat in the palm of one hand, outside down, and with your other hand, rub backwards and forwards to crumble the inside in to the bowl with the egg. Season with salt and pepper and stir well.
In a small, non-stick frying pan, drizzle a little sunflower oil and bring gently up to a heat. Add the chicken and tomato and fry off for a couple of minutes before distributing it evenly around the pan and carefully adding the egg mix. Put your grill on to heat up to maximum.
When you can see that the omelette is set almost to the top (about 3 to 4 minutes,) transfer the pan to underneath the grill. After a minute or two, the omelette should be fully set and start to rise slightly, due to the yeast in the bread. Sprinkle over the dried sage and the grated cheese and return to the grill until the cheese begins to bubble then serve immediately.
