Do you leave the crock pot working while no one take care of it?!

Look at it this way if you are worried about leaving it unattended. Do you turn your furnace off when you are gone? If you have a water bed do you unplug the heater? Do you unplug your water heater? If you have an aquarium do you turn off the bubbler, heater or light in that when you are gone?
Answers: That is why they were invented. To cook while you are away. That way you have a nice hot dinner.

I leave it on low heat while I am away. That's the beauty of it.
Yes, it could be left for 24 hrs, without dehydrating in liquid, and if it's on low
I place mine on top of my stove and leave it there working all day - even if I'm not home. It is perfectly safe. (unless you have something wrong with your outlet...)
Yes of course! Sometimes the steam from the lid leaks water onto the counter-top, but other than that I would leave it for 8 hours at a time! Thats why crock-pots are the BEST!!!
That is the great thing about a crock pot......there is nothing like working all day....and coming home to the aroma of dinner already cooked...
To tell the truth I could not let it run while I was away from home...I'd be worried to death that it would catch on fire ....you never know if there would be an electrical power surge and burn the pot up....to me it's not worth the worry....you could always use it during the night when you are sleeping and make sure you have a fire alarm set while you are in dreamland....that is the only way I'd use it only when I was at home.....I'm sure others don't worry like I do.....but I can't help it!
Mama Jazzy Geri
Thats the purpose of it
nope. never know what can happen when your not home.
Of course, that's the point of having it.
definitely! That is what makes a crockpot so wonderful!
no not really. I know thats what they are for but I worry about things like that so if I'm going out I don't use it.
I used to, decades ago, when I was much younger. Since then I've become more aware of possible flaws in them and the wiring and / or outlets in one's home as "Julia N", "Mama Jazzy Geri", "Matha", and "Aurora" also cite, so, I don't use crock pots anymore, for that very reason. I know they were invented for use while you're away, as all your other answerers point out, and I've made great tasting meals from them, but flaws do exist, and only one flaw is needed to bring on disaster. Maybe I'm just becoming an old "worry wart" in my advancing age, and then maybe I'm just becoming wiser. God Bless you.
Yes, it is perfectly safe. . .to use while you are away...It is no different than leaving the refrigerator plugged up or the t. v. plugged in. . ...think about the all the things you leave plugged in, and you won't worry about the crock anymore. . .
