Answers: I have already decided on ham.But not on how I am going to cook it.

make a sauce with 1 can 7 up, 2 tblsp brown sugar, and 1 tblsp marmalade.
crisscross the ham with knife cuts and put in some whole cloves in the cuts
pour half the juice on the total ham, wrap in foil and put on low heat 275 in oven for 3 hours. baste every hour and use up the rest of the liquid on the ham.
remove from oven and remove the whole cloves, let sit and keep covered to keep warm...
serve with scalloped potatoes, fresh green beans and a tossed salad
dessert should be simple and not too heavy,
fresh fruit cocktail, make with all the stuff you have at home....and a scoop of ice cream...

bake it

Wow. 2 thumbs down....nobodies got a sense of humour here today! Come on....it's the mother-in-law....they're all evil right?

Bake it to make it easier on yourself. Make some roasted red potatoes and a side of fresh asparagus steamed. For dessert try looking on Kraft.com for some really easy dessert recipes. This one is yummy and very easy: http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/rec...

Good luck! I always get stressed about dinner when the in-laws come.

make taco bell

Get a big piece of bacon, soak it for a couple of hours, then bake it drizzled in honey for an hour to hour and a half medium heat. Keep basting with the juices. When cooked it tastes great even when not piping hot. Serve with mustard, boiled potatoes and peas. Steam the frozen peas with a solid cos lettuce finely chopped and mixed with the peas. (Equal volume of peas and lettuce.)Dress with butter and lemon juice. You can keep that warm with the bacon and spuds in the oven turned down low until
herself sits down to dine, Remember to keep asking about HER life and everything will go fine.
If it really is slices of ham you want to cook I suggest you buy some canned pear halves, drain and wrap in slices of ham spread with a little hot mustard. Into a hot oven for 20 minutes. You could serve this with the peas/lettuce and potatoes too.

Boars head makes a great brown sugar glaze I have used it several times and people love it. In addition I add one can of pineapple. Good Luck
