Duck instead of chicken...?!
I have half a duck and some chicken thighs leftover from a party, and I don't want to waste them....thanks!
Answers: Do you think it would taste ok if I used duck instead of chicken to make a soup using a traditional chicken soup recipe? (ie with carrots, celery, onions, chicken broth, noodles..etc)

Duck has more fat..... but it should work out just fine... and you can add the chicken too if you like....
*** I would also add a bit of sage or poultry seasoning... and a dash of garlic powder.
I'm a chicken, so if you plan on eating one of them i'd recommend duck every time.
As long as you like the flavor of duck, yes, it should work fine. Be sure to skim the excess fat off before adding noodles.
If you like the flavor of duck, by all means. Just make sure you either remove the skin, or keep skimming the far off the soup as it cooks.
Ducks are verrrry greasy.
I'm not a duch fan in soup :) I know, it will taste very different. First of all duck is fat, there will be lots of fat on top of your soup. Other thing is, that duck meat is sweet.
Duck has always been considered good for roasting, not for soups.
I wouldn't substitute duck for chicken. Nor I would mix them together to make a "chicken flavor".
won't work.Unfortunately.
But if you still try, let us know.
Wouldn't that be like mixing beef and lamb together?
I can't imagine it would taste better than just the one meat.
