Delicious frosting/icing?!

Question: Does anyone have a recipe for (slightly low-fat) frosting or icing for a single layer 8 inch vanilla cake? If it contains butter, let it be no more then like 3 tbsp., and please no recipes with shortening.
~thanks!

i dont know any recipe .. but cream cheese icing is delicious! you can get it in low fat i do believe... it's my favorite!

i bake a cake with this easy frosting. Take 1 container of cool whip, low fat, fat free which ever you like, mix i package of vanilla pudding mix into it(instant), until it dissolves. it is super good. And if you mix a pack of pudding mix into the cake mix i makes it super moist.

Get 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter' and mix it with powdered sugar and a tiny bit of hot water ... you will have the basic 'yellow/white frosting' with fewer calories for you vanilla cake ... put only a drop or two of the water in, and use I cup of sugar and I tablespoon of the 'buttery flavored stuff' and then mix to the amount you want by adding a litttle of either as needed ... and if it get 'too thick' then add the drop or two of hot water to thin it out a bit ...

1/3 teaspoon butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups sifted confectioners sugar
3 to 4 tablespoons milk
PREPARATION:
Cream butter, salt, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Add sugar gradually, beating after each addition. Add 3 tablespoons milk, beating until smooth. Beat in more milk if desired until sreading consistensy is reached.

whipped cream icing

2 teaspoons Knox Gelatine
4 teaspoons cold water
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup confectioners sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix Knox Gelatine and cold water and set aside.
Whip the cream and add confectioners sugar.
Add gelatine mixture and vanilla extract.
This does not alter the taste of the whipped cream in any way.
It may be used in place of Cool Whip in desserts.
