How long should I cook salt pork?!

Question: I'm making mixed greens, and I'm using salt pork for flavoring. This is my first time making greens, so I bought the mixed greens that came cooked already. Since it'll only take about 15 minutes to heat the greens up..is it safe to cook the salt pork for that long? Also, do I put the pork in at the same time as the greens or do I cook the pork first? Help!

Salt pork should be used with fresh greens so you have time to get the flavor out of it. If you are using canned greens then they should already have some pork flavor in them.

I would soak the pork in water overnight in the fridge. Next time remember greens take as long to heat as to cook.
