Probability of impending sickness?!

Question: I was just preparing dinner (putting stuff in the crockpot) and having finished I was putting utensils in the sink but the spatula that I had used to spread barbeque sauce smelled so good that I licked it clean and then remembered that I had used this to spread the sauce over RAW chicken breasts. What's the probability (1:5; 1:10; 1:100; 1:1000 etc) that I am going to get sick with salmonela or botulism etc.?

Salmonella is your primary concern here. Raw chicken is a common carrier of the bacteria that causes salmonellosis.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, approximately 40,000 cases of salmonellosis are reported in the United States every year. Because many milder cases are not diagnosed or reported, the actual number of infections may be thirty or more times greater. Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever, or abdominal cramps. Infections usually resolve in 5-7 days and often do not require treatment unless the patient becomes severely dehydrated or the infection spreads from the intestines. Persons with severe diarrhea may require rehydration, often with intravenous fluids.
Chances are good you will not become ill from such a small exposure, but having experienced the illness, trust me, you'll know. Never lick your utensils-it's not worth getting sick.
If I had to guess, I'd say your chances lie between 1:5 and 1:10.
It's also possible to get sick with Campylobacter, Staphylococcus (staph) infections and Listeria or other food-born illnesses. However, your chances of contracting botulism is actually quite low (as one case of this is considered an outbreak and dealt with swiftly by the Health Department).
Always try to limit your contact with raw foods and wash everything that comes in contact with raw foods well.
Good luck. I hope all goes well.

The Amazing Krescan says "Probability 0"
The Amazing Krescan says your probability of developing an ulcer due to stress: 100%

1: 100 to 1:1000 Because you used it to spread the sauce. there is a chance but not a great chance. you will know in 24 to 48 hours if there is anything wrong. sometimes worrying about it will get you sick so please relax and take care. maybe spruce up your defences and have a glass of orange juice or the like.
