When preparing a Shepard's Pie, can you use something other then corn?!?My husband hates corn, but would it!
Answers: still taste good if I replaced the corn w/ green beans?!?
There are no rules concerning ingredients when making Shepard's Pie. Use another vegetable or double up on one of his favorites.
Try using Sweet Peas.
I don't think green beans would work very well. I would suggest just leaving the corn out altogether, and serving the green beans as a side dish.
totally diff. taste..but give it a try.. or you could do half corn have without
We always use cream corn, its that salty and sweet taste that really make the pie good. I'd maybe try some pees maybe mixed with a cream of mushroom.
it would taste differant but probably still good you could also use peas if you both like those..peas and corn are often swapped in recipes!
you can replace with green beans or sweet peas and will still taste good. As with any recipe you can improvize.
You can use whatever you want. Use lima beans - doesn't really matter.
It may be ok....But the corn goes best with the potatoes.
Green beans are way good with it just make sure they are shredded green beans
Carrots, peas, beans or diced parsnips would do.
Traditionally what ever was at hand was used.
I make my sheppards pie like this.
Brown hamburger meat and drain, mix with a can of tomato soup(no water) and a can of green beans. Top with mashed potatoes and cheese bake till bubbly.
My mom's bestfriend came over to stay at our place for a while and made use shepards pie one night. She doesn't use corn because her husban hates it aswell as yours. So she uses aspergus instead and it was delicious!!
I would use green frozen peas or peas and carrots frozen mixture.
I'd suggest peas & carrots instead of corn.
I think that green beans will go mushy.
I agree that you can substitute green beans...by shredded I think it was meant French Cut. Or just leave the corn out...the recipe is not written in stone
If he hates corn just omit it. It will still taste great.
i use green beans, tastes good to me!
not even sure how corn got into your shepherd's pie to begin with. Traditional shepherd's pie uses peas onions or carrots. Corn is an American thing
Last week I made it with green beans.... a couple of weeks ago I used mixed vegetables.. both were good.
I haven't done this but my daughter did.. she used asparagus and said it was great.
hope this helps.
I'm from England, and i have never heard of putting corn in shepherds pie. I put carrots, and sometimes green peas.
