Does barbeque sauce expire? if so.. how long is it good for?!

Question: Shelf stable tomato based sauces don't become unsafe for years if ever. They taste best up to 2 years or so. (go by the "best before date" if there is one. Oil based shelf stable sauces get rancid faster. After 9 months or a year they may start tasting "off." If not shelf stable, all bets are off. If the product is sold refrigerated, they will have a date on the product. I wouldn't keep it more than 6 months unopened.

Once opened, shelf stable products keep indefinitely if refrigerated. If they don't show mold growth, taste a bit and if you like it, use it. If there is mold or funny smell or appearance, pitch it.

There should be a "Best if Used By" date on your bottle. If you can't find that, the average bottle expires in six months.

If kept in the fridge after opening it should last around a year even.

Barbeque sauce has special toxic chemicals that make it virtually indestructible and can last for at least a generation.

As long as its in you fridge it will never go bad. I dunno why but I have some BBQ sauce I have had for over a year and its the best and I have not been back to Texas to get some some I only use it on special occasions.

Bar BQ Sauce...has vinegar in it...so this helps it to perserve it for a long time..as long as it not been open, or its been open and refrigerated!!

your safe to eat it.
