Anyone have a recipe for old fashioned rice pudding in oven?!

Question: I remember my mother making a creamy rice pudding, in the oven, and it comes out with a beautiful brown skin on top of the pudding. Anybody know what I am referreing to?

Just like grandma used to make
by Bluenoser |
6 servings
1/2 cup rice
2 cups milk
1 cup water
1/2 tablespoon butter
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup raisins

Mix all ingredients except raisins in greased casserole dish.
Bake 300°F for ONE hour.
Reduce heat to 250°F for ONE and ONE HALF hours.
Add raisins half hour before done.

Look on a box of Uncle Ben's rice (or even check out their website for the recipe)....my mom used to make fantastic baked rice pudding from the recipe they had on the box. It also had a nice custard type texture as well.
