Garden Salad Recipe?!
Answers: I need to make a garden salad tonight for work tomorrow and would like suggestions of what to put in it. I havent decided but may buy bagged salad and add some romaine lettuce to it along with onions, peppers, carrots and cherry tomatoes. Would hard boiled eggs work in a recipe like this? Can you write up a list of what you would add to a garden salad? Thanks and fastest best answer gets the points!!! We will be going to the grocery store shortly!!!
Love it........but not the "bagged mix" idea. Have you seen the health reports on these things? Anyways, it's cheaper to buy one head of Romaine, Green Leaf and Red Cabbage, a fabulous base for any salad! Your toppings sound delicious, I would only add cucumbers, hard boiled eggs MAKE a salad! You've chosen your toppings wisely as they will stay crisp in your frig tonight and onto tomorrow when your colleagues will enjoy your wonderful Salad! Obviously, you won't dress it until right before you serve it and some wheat rolls will add that extra touch! Happy cheffin', Renee
Boil half a cup of corn kernels in the microwave. Set aside. Mix 1 diced tomato, half a cup of diced cucumber, 3 table spoons of diced pineapple and a few sprigs of diced corriander in a big bowl
Wash half a cup of sprouted mung beans, drain the water and add to the bowl. Add 3 table spoons of Pomegranate into the bowl. Mix the boiled corn along with all the other ingredients
here is another one
8 tomatoes
2 cucumbers
3-4 carrots
1 medium onion
2 green bell peppers
1/2 head cauliflower
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 teaspoons sugar
4 teaspoons vinegar
Clean and cut vegetables into small chunks and put in large bowl.
Add seasonings, sugar and vinegar and stir well.
Refrigerate at least 1 to 2 hours to blend the flavors.
The salad makes its own"dressing" from the juices
Add 1 teaspoon lemon juice. Adding Salt is optional and so is powdered pepper. You can chill it or eat it as soon as it is prepared.
I think garden salads don't have boiled eggs in them. Anyway, here's a recipe I found:
GARDEN SALAD WITH CREAMY DRESSING
SALAD:
1 lb. fresh garden lettuce (or in any season but summer, Romaine lettuce)
1 carrot, peeled and sliced
1 tomato, diced
1 avocado, diced
2 scallions, minced
1/2 c. walnut pieces
Croutons to top
DRESSING:
1 c. sour cream
1 1/2 c. olive oil
1 tbsp. brown mustard
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. dried dill
2-3 cloves crushed garlic (more if you're home alone, less if you have a date)
To prepare dressing, mix ingredients and blend until smooth. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Mix salad ingredients together and serve with literally ANY meal!
I like grated carrots, celery, radish slices, sliced cucumber, shredded cheese, hard boiled egg quarters and red cabbage in my garden salad along with iceburg lettuce and some romaine and bib lettuce.
