Pecan pie still soupy?!
Answers: Each time I make pecan pie it ends up soupy in the middle even though I have tried several recipes. Right now I have a soupy pie and would like to know if there are any short term solutions for this particular pie (and advice for the future is welcome). Can I just put it back in the oven for a while or will that ruin the crust?
Post your recipe and we can likely give you a fix. In the meantime, just put it back in the oven I find though the recipe ALWAYS takes longer to bake than the recipe states. I bake mine until the centre is, well not soupy. Don't worrr about what the recipe says. Ovens vary as do cooking times! Good luck!
cover the crust with tin foil and place it back in the oven
Next time try adding some flour or corn starch to the filling to make it thicker. You can try putting it back in the oven, which should help, but I would keep an eye on it to make sure the rest of it doesn't get over done.
put it in the fridge for a while to harden it after u put it in the oven .. in the future put less oil
Put it back in. This happened to me once, and it is because I thought I was supposed to cook it for 30 minutes, I put it in refrigerator overnight, still soupy. I looked at the recipe again, and the pie was supposed to cook for 50 to 60 minutes. I popped it right in the oven. Perfect pie, no problem since
Sometimes, it has to do with too much liquid in the filling. However, since you tried several recipes with the same outcome, you should get an oven thermometer. Sometimes, your oven temperature is not what you think it is. Right now just put it back in the oven and bake until the filling is set and well puffed in the center.
