*All kinds of ground beef recipes here.

Buy you an inexpensive crock pot. There are all kinds of recipes that you can look up on the Internet. Just throw them together in the mornings, and turn on low. Then they are ready when you get back home!

ever tried a poor man's pie?
buy 1/2 pound roast beef in deli and some brown gravy mix make the gravy heat the roast beef in the gravy put it between two slices of bread. cut in half make a wedge shape scoop a spoon of mashed potatoes in between sandwich and cover all over with gravy. served by itself is a very filling good meal. this here in kentucky would cost about 3.99 for the roast beef 35 cents for gravy mix and 2.99 for 10 lbs of potatoes.

A cheap idea I love is meatloaf! and it doesn't have to be just a blob of meat either... a 1 lb pack of hamburger should cost $3 or less (especially if you buy it on sale), add some salt and pepper, some finely diced onion and a little green pepper, the last 10 minutes it's in the oven, squiggle ketchup on top. It's so good and can be less than $4 to make it it feeds a family of 4.

Another thing I like is chicken nuggets.... a bag of chicken breasts at the grocery store by my house is $4.50... slice them into thick strips and toss in a brown bag with flour and spices, then fry them in a pan with canola or vegetable oil until browned. You should be able to get 2 meals of these out of a bag, so that's $2.25 per meal, plus add in a side dish of a can of corn or peas or something! So $3.00 and you've fed your family.

Spaghetti is also a good cheap choice... my grocery store has jars of spaghetti sauce a pack of noodles for 99 cents. $2 a meal! Add in a slice of toast topped with butter and a sprinkle of garlic salt for a nice addition.

What about a pack of Ramen noodles or two (don't groan yet), then slice up a few chicken breasts or a cheap steak and toss it, top with a little parmesan cheese or some sesame seeds! You can serve this steaming hot - OR - serve it cold and toss with either teriyaki sauce or italian dressing. YUM!

I have loads of good cheap veggie recipes, but I know a lot of guys,if they're not veggie won't even try a veggie meal. My husband used to be like that until I taught him different. If not for a cheaper meat meal try pork chops in a cream/wine /mustard sauce. Or a well roasted chicken is always good too.
Spaghetti with courgette sauce-

saute one onion and a couple of bell peppers in a little olive oil, add 2-3 sliced courgettes and some italian seasoning. Cover and allow to cook over low heat for 5-10 mins then add a tin of chopped tomatoes and a squeeze of tomato puree. Bring to boil and simmer while you boil the spag, add salt and pepper to taste. if you don't like it chunky you can whizz it in a blender-I used to do this when my kids were small.
