Can I use butter if a recipie calls for shortening?!
Answers: I have a recipie for peanut butter banana bread that calls for 1/3 cup of shortening. Can I use butter instead?
Absolutely! I don't ever have shortening in the house and butter or margarine are my alternatives!!
Let me stress... I NEVER use shortening in a recipe that calls for it. I haven't bought a can of Crisco in ages!!
p.s. Would you mind sharing your recipe? I have never heard of peanut butter banana bread. It sounds heavenly!!
The use of natural fats will always be the best choice and not the ones that have been geneticly modified. These are the type that are causing all of the fat phobias(hydrogenated oils) Lard has been victimized unfairly by the makers of GMO oils. You will probably see eateries return to it very soon Report It
