How long do I cook these porkchops? Am I doing it right?!
Answers: Seasoned with salt and pepper, seared on both sides, 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick. I put a lid on my cast iron skillet and turned the flame to low. How long do I cook 'em? Am I doing it right? Tips?
Pork chops is an easy and fast meat to cook. They can be baked, broiled and fried. The way you're doing it in the skillet is fine and should only take about 10 minutes
They are done when the meat is white all the way through
USE THE GRILL ITS EASIER. IT DEPENDS ON HOW YOU WANT THEM DONE? GAS OR ELECTRIC STOVE? START WITH 5/5 ON EACH SIDE AND GO FROM THERE.
I consider mine done when I poke at it and it doesn't slide around on it's self like raw meat does and there is no blood coming out of it anymore.
I usually do them in the oven for 35 to 40 min at about 325 degrees but the main thing is do not over cook them because there isn't anything worse than a dry pork chop and they get dry really fast when they are over cooked.
take the lid off. by now u need turn and cook about 6 more minutes.i like mine just past the pink stage. re-salt and pepper and a couple pinches of garlic powder. now there ready...eat or smoother in a sauce.
broiling or baking are also good ideas but just cook it on low with a litttle water or butter until the meat is white on the inside then just cook it until you get your desired tenderness. about 10 - 20 minutes
I prefer to Broil, but just keep 'em moist. In the skillet, you can add water and a little oil. Peirce a hole or two in the center, to insure cook thoroughly.
8 minutes on each side (approx). Turn the flame up a little more.
Make sure they are done in the middle. Slight pink, but not red.
ok use lawreys salt, garlic powder, pepper cook however until done, turn with tongs not a fork never poke your meat it allows the juices to come out, when the outside looks done remove from stove, cut a small slit into the meat
chicken, pork, turkey should be white no pink or bloody juices
if not done return to pan with slit down this will allow the heat to seal up the slit and not dry it out
or use a thermometer useually the best option with out any experience
use any kind of barbeque sauce to smother ontop just before removing from heat. (if you like sweet add a little honey to you sauce)
Pork will not hurt you if it's pink when you eat it. It will be so tender at the pink stage. Put the lid on and cook for 6 min's for a 2 in. chop. Don't forget the garlic salt! You must serve applesauce with the pork! Mashed potatoes are awsome too!
A good recipe I have for pork chops is to mix 1/2 cup of coke, 1/2 cup of barbecue sauce and 1/2 cup of ketchup together and pour of the chops. Cook on low heat in an electric skillet for 45 minutes on each side for chops as thick as you have. You can cut them with a fork - they will be so tender.
