You can use butter, the oil actually moistens the cake, so butter should have the same effect. Melt it the the microwave first.

butter and maybe mayo
ive never used the mayo but i hear it works.

butter or applesauce, or half of each.
trust me :)
happy cooking!

Melted butter or magerine is fine.

When doing baking you shouldn't make substitutions unless you are a professional baker because it depends on the other ingredients. I have seen applesauce substituted for oil in some receipes but receipes is the key word.

I have a substitution chart in one of my cook books and says you can use 1 cup applesauce or fruit puree per 1 cup oil. Hope this helps!

melted crisco will substitute exactly, but applesauce works, too.

I have used shortening as a substitute. scoop it in a Pyrex measuring cup and melt it in the microwave. I have tried it with butter before and it did not work out well. Hope I helped.

I use applesauce instead of oil. It sounds really weird but it works!!!

You can use applesauce or if you happen to have baby food on hand you could use a jar of pureed carrots or zucchini. You can also use yogurt, even flavored kinds.

Any "fat" can substitute, but it might through the flavor just a bit... try melted butter or margarine?

I always use applesauce instead of oil when I bake a box cake. I use 1/2 c of the applesauce in place of the 1/2 c of veggie oil. I would think that you could sub the amt of oil in your recipe for the same amount of applesauce. It makes the cake very moist and you eliminate all the calories & fat from the oil. No one can every tell the diff. Good luck!

Melted butter or margarine.... and you can use half of that and half applesauce.

Use unsweetened applesauce.
It works; you may need to adjust the other wet ingredients (i.e., add more) if the weather is dry.

applesauce

applesauce!
